The Quokka

The Quokka is a tiny marsupial found only in a handful of places in South West, Western Australia. With a status of rare and vulnerable, this is a highly protected species.

The Quokka is similar to a wallaby and very cute. I was lucky to get close to this one on Rottnest Island.

Western Australia

I have fallen in love with Western Australia.

Of all the places I have visited, Western Australia is my favourite. The lifestyle is incredible. The variety on offer is fantastic. It is full of beautiful beaches, gorgeous countryside, breathtaking landscapes, and.... of course, flowers.

My heart belongs in Western Australia. One day I will settle down in this great state. For the moment, I will just visit as often as I can afford.

These are two shots taken when I was in Perth, September 2007.

Swan River Daisies

Swan River Daises aka Brachyscome iberidifolia, are a stunning flower. I love them.

A native to Western Australia, they thrive in dry and sunny conditions. They grow in magnificent clumps, typically true blue or white in colour.

These particular Swan River Daisies were captured in September 2007, during my visit to Kings Park, Perth.

Climbing Bridges

I wanted to do something crazy. So I convinced my friend, Melissa, to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with me. We traveled to Sydney for a few days and on Wednesday 24 September, we embarked on our journey to the top of the bridge.

It was not scary at all, at least I didn't think so. Melissa said that she wanted to wear an incontinence pad for fear of 'crapping' herself from being so high on the bridge. When we were directly above traffic, I said to Melissa, "look down, look down. It's awesome!" She was terrified and said "No way". She refused to look down. To see the traffic whiz by underneath was such a thrill. I loved it.

After we came down, Melissa said, "that was too easy, it should have been harder." Lol. I thought of it more as a nice relaxing stroll over the top of the bridge. It was lovely. The view was awesome. We couldn't have picked a better day for it. The day we arrived, it was wet, foggy, and miserable. The day we climbed, it was perfect! The sky was clear. It was sunny and we could see all over Sydney. It was wonderful!

We weren't allowed to take camera's because we were so high above traffic. We were, however, photographed by our group leader and were able to purchase photo's if we wished. These are the few that we got.

We did it. YAY!!!!!!!

An AWESOME climb!!! I recommend it to anyone, both young and old.

Flowers :-)

I have a passion... flowers. I love them, all kinds, particularly Aussie natives. I love learning all about them, where they grow and in what conditions. I find them both beautiful and fascinating. I particularly love taking photographs of them. I have a goal to travel Australia extensively to personally enjoy and photograph all native Australian flowers. This is a very lofty goal which is why I have allowed my lifetime to complete it in. I visit as many gardens and parks as my time will allow.
