Every September, Toowoomba puts on its annual carnival of flowers. The whole town comes alive with flowers. It is a beautiful time of year. These are a few blooms that I captured at the time.

This was the last tulip growing in the garden. I thought to myself, how beautiful it was. Yes, it showed signs of age and had lost many of its petals, but it was still a beautiful flower growing in the garden. It was there to be enjoyed, and to be loved.

When I visited Kings Park in the Spring of 2007, they had this gorgeous little Japanese Garden. However, it was not your regular Japanese Garden. This tree is called Giju Jimulu, aka a Boab Tree. It was moved 3200 kms to Kings Park, a huge journey. I remember hearing about it and really wanted to see it. Banksia's are very common in Australia and belong to the Proteaceae Family. From what I understand, there are about 170 different species of Banksia. Of these 170, about 60 of them are found in South Western Australia. Wherever they are, they put on an impressive display. These are just a few of the many I found growing in Kings Park in February of this year.

Ju Raku En is the largest Japanese Garden in Australia and is jointly owned by USQ and the Toowoomba Regional Council. These gardens are very glorious, peaceful places to visit.I visited just two days before the official end of Autumn.

The Quokka is a tiny marsupial found only in a handful of places in South West, Western Australia. With a status of rare and vulnerable, this is a highly protected species. The Quokka is similar to a wallaby and very cute. I was lucky to get close to this one on Rottnest Island.
